Lottie Skirt

P5270029 edited

I made up my second Lottie Skirt from Brownie Goose this week. Well, I finished the one I cut out about a month and a bit ago. What can I say, my work in progress pile is large and slow moving.

Its a lovely pattern – I think the pleated version is actually better looking on plainer fabrics that really show off and hold the pleats in. Madam is not 100% sold on it as she prefers elastic to buttons. I think my next till be to do a gathered version with an elasticated back. I love the fitted look but usability is where its at in this house.

Its a versatile pattern though, great fit and easy to follow with multiple options and instructions. Its also pretty light on fabrics which is delightful as now madame is getting bigger things like dresses -particularly long sleeved ones – use a surprising amount of yardage. A skirt for under a yard, yes please.

The smallest member of the household was ill last week, we had a few days very quiet, at home. In door activities and listening to audio books. Anti-biotics seem to be working now, but we are still at half speed. Actually its rather nice not to be rushing about. We have baked, sewn, played and read.

Actually taken first thing this morning, we woke up to wonderful white crisp cold snow, a cat thought lost returned home and a bright new week.

This week has been a ‘good night’ to the garden week. I have dug over most of the beds – the capsicums are still in the ground (got about 4 left to harvest) and the parsnip bed. But the rest are guy and ready to receive generous quantities of manure and blood and bone.

There are also a few tree rounds (same again that’s not pictured) to be split ready for next winter too. Not a lot as its form the stump felled rather than a whole tree, but it should yield a couple of cubic metres once split up.

A day in the mountains. Snow caps, low clouds and sunshine. Perfection.
