Joining Soulemama for ~ This Moment

A moment from this week, one I want to pause, savour and remember. A special moment.

My camera is winging it way back to me via a courier company. Hopefully they can avoid trashing it en route. I am joyful.

In other news Autumn appears to have arrived over night. No seriously. Its here. Ive cracked out merino layers, thermal socks and big pouffy body warmers. The cats are on the hearth. I’m thinking of soups and baking bread. Boom. Bye bye summer.

Excuse the collage. Odd colour casts on the images. And utter randomness. Toasty fruit bread and warm socks, biking, homemade bread, wrapped up warm but determined to wear a pretty skirt; funky tights cur tasty of nana. hot buttered fresh bread – oh so good. With home made bolognese.

Ironically I had a great post planned for this moment. It was epic, funny, was going to even include good grammar and some stunning shots.
But. Yeah there a but. Pretty epic one. My camera. I left it in a cafe on the drive home. At our half way point. My post (the brilliant pithy one) was going to be about travelling with a camera, Feeling like a tourist. Oh the embarrassment.

But since my camera was abandoned by me. 3h away, possibly now in the possession of a hygienically challenged gap year student I have iPhone pics. Which I collaged for you.

Queenstown in 8 slightly grainy. Very small. Not always in focus pics. We had a great time though. More on that later. I’m off to see what pics hubby has on his camera.

My Place

I went out to throw a ball for the dog and this was my sky and view. It was 20 degrees and strong winds. The skies rolled above me and despite the grey it was bright. Some days I’m so busy living I forget to stop and pause. Be in the moment, in my place. Its a pretty fine place.

Garden Update

The garden is going great guns so I felt it deserved a post. Spinach and beet seedlings are in for autumn, as well as broccoli and cauliflower seedlings in the brassica bed. We are harvesting and eating peppers, courgettes, carrots, the tomatoes are redding up and the onion tops are fallen and drying out. The courgettes are suffering from a blossom rot type issue, 50% of the crop are ok, but every second fruit shrivels up and goes nasty before its big enough to pick. My cauliflowers are great and tasty but for some reason my broccoli plants are huge but with no florets on them.

My winter carrots are looking stronger since I picked out and tidied the bed. There is a random squash plant in there too. And a squash in the ground behind. Its got lovely yellow space ship shaped fruits on it. There is also a pumpkin growing, YAY. Ive never grown pumpkin before!

Our peachcot tree has fruits on it and so does the Fuji apple on big lawn. The others haven’t fruited this year as they had a tough times last year with leaf curl and not thriving. They are better but I think it’ll be a year or so before they truly take off. There position is more exposed than the peachcot.

This week I’m planting winter crop seeds in our little mini planter and tidying the edge flower beds as they are weedy and messy. Music group. A coffee date. A haircut. Then we are off for a weekend down south. I’m meant to be running a 5km hill run. That will be ……… interesting. Given my current state of fitness – or lack thereof.

There has been a lot of happening this week. Fore-mostly for you all reading this will be noticing that we are finally getting round to updating the look and feel. Sorry for random little changes over the next week or so. A touch of padding here. A new font there. It’s all good. Still the same inside. What do your think? Too grey? Not grey enough? Like the logo?

Other than that there been failure from me to take pictures and write anything. Its been good though. Garden veggies, new seedlings planted. A trip up to Auckland for the day. So good to see friends and colleagues. It was a long day. Cities confuse and muddle me. The flight back had wine and crackers. And cartoons on the iPad. Win win. Ponies been ridden to preschool (it was a bumpy ride, he was a touch fresh!) A Birthday party. Fabric mail – that needs its own post. Overlocker ownership. I made a blouse.

So this weekend we hit the river (again) It was bliss, sunny and fun and free. We ate and chatted and threw stones into the water. The sun was strong, the water blissfully cool. We unwound. There were crowds. It was the NZ Coast to Coast and the bridge is where the kayaks come in. Over a hundred people all waiting for their ‘person’ to come in. I had totally forgotten and was as confused as hell when we rocked up to crowds and stewards and people pointing to where I could park. Typical me.

Apparently ‘happening’ was the watch word this week.

I love this picture. Her concentration and complete disregard for what surrounds her. Its all about those river stones.

My girl, in her favourite place. I love how relaxed she looks, how like ‘her’.
