We have had so much rain, so so much. Literally days on end. We have chilled out with friends, bath time in a spa bath. Walking through the woods and on the brief patches between the rain we whizzed to the swings for a quick play.
Moo has coped surprisingly well. She’s suddenly discovered a love of painting. I think started by the owl picture in the photo above. Give her a outline and she will sit and paint for ages – happy as a clam. It makes my heart so happy to see her happily sitting creating, her little lips all pursed up in concentration as she dips the brush in water, then paint, then onto the paper, back into the water and repeat.
Christmas is fast fading away. Decorations are down. Beautiful gifts are all in their new places. Books are being read and toys played with. New clothes have become favourites and our routines are falling back into old patterns (with a few bumps on the way. Bed time is currently a rather protracted affair)
Life without a ‘nummy’ is tough, but she’s coping. I think she knows it was her choice so despite periods of sadness she’s never once asked for them back.
This kid is three with a capitol T. She is awesome.
Joining Soulemama in a moment from this week. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember. A special moment.
A tired Christmas'd out Moo
We had a great day. Such fun. Good friends, to much food. Happy Moo.
Joining SouleMama for a special moment from this week, a moment I want to pause savour and remember.
Today Moo announced that the ‘fairies’ could come and take her nummies. Just like that. Her choice. She’s a big girl now.
In fairness we have mentioned it a few times, just that when she’s ready, the nummy fairy takes them for another abby and she gets a gift. And today. Boom.
So we hung her nummies on the peach tree ina brown paper bag and she toddled off to bed. No stress. Took a little longer to drop off and had a few extra cuddles. This evening I made her some wings and a little knitted fairy, and a little sparkly wand (which she’s been coveting for AGES!)
I’m really hoping she see’s it as a fair exchange.
Nail painting in preparation of a party. Gorgeous garden flowers. The cat brought us a skink to look at. Music christmas party. There was an angel .. awesome.

At some of the adventures with Nana
A steam train ride through beautiful countryside. Hanmer Springs. Walking through the beautiful forest park. River paddles. Sleepy girl.
Currently it is growing very well! We are harvesting daily now. Courgettes, onions, strawberries, lettuce (oh so much lettuce) the peas have peaked and gone (pulled this week, new ones are slowly coming away) carrots and beets are also through, little paris market round carrots and beautiful striped choiggia beets. Moo loves to pick her own strawberries – coming in with bright red juice dripping down her chin. She eats peas straight, pod and all. Lettuce does not do it for her.
The tomatoes and climbing beans are coming away slowly. My 3 pepper plants are growing slowly, perhaps in need of a little additional food. I have 2 random tomato plants, sprouted from discarded ‘failure’ pots. Additional carrots are sprouting. Nutri-reds and purple dragon, some white cosmic and a few others from a ‘rainbow’ mix. An abandoned potato has sprouted at the end of one bed.
Flowers are blooming too, nasturtiums, calendula, borage are all out. The sunflowers are getting tall.
It is so lovely in our space at the moment, it feels friendly and welcoming, a safe haven. Leafy and green. Fun.
